"SAVAGE SEVEN" with a twist. What does that mean?
- There are seven players per game (4 men - 3 women)--without substitution--on grass. On sand, there are 5 players with two subs. The twist is that now each team has the *option* to bring 9 players in total to the tournament. Before each game of the tournament, the captains must decide who will be the 7 players for that game and only those players can play. (This applies to sand as well, in which only 7 can play per game per team.)
- In the event of injury/illness during a game, if a player must leave the game, the opposing team’s captain has the option to continue playing 7 players or match the number of players left on the other team. If the captain chooses to match the number of players (for example, playing 6 on 6), they will still have their 7th player at their disposal to sub in during that game. However, the players who were designated as “non-players” for that game cannot enter the game as a sub.
